289. Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the United States.It lies off the Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by Maryland and Virginia. More than 150 rivers and streams drain into the bay. In addition to pleasure craft, aircraft carriers, tankers and commercial fishing boats ply these waters. The bay hosts the world's largest Naval Base at Norfolk Virginia.
