Yushan (Chinese: 玉山; pinyin: Yùshān; literally "Jade Mountain"), also Mount Yu is the highest mountain in Taiwan and the fourth highest mountain on an island. In the past, Yushan was known among English-speaking expats and missionaries as Mount Morrison, thought to have been named in honor of the 19th century missionary Robert Morrison. Today, the mountain is referred to as Yushan or Jade Mountain. The highest point of Yushan range, Yushan, is 3,952 metres above sea level. Yushan was once in the ocean and raised to the current height because the Eurasian Plate slid under the neighboring Philippine Sea Plate. The ocean waters off Taiwan's east coast are deep; in fact, submarine slopes plunge down to the Pacific Ocean at a grade of 1:10 and the ocean reaches a depth of more than 4,000 metres about 50 kilometres from the coast

386. Yehliu
Yehliu is a cape on the north coast of Taiwan in the town of Wanli between Taipei and Keelung.
The cape, known by geologists as the Yehliu Promontory, forms part of the Taliao Miocene Formation. It stretches approximately 1,700 meters into the ocean and was formed as geological forces pushed Datun Mountain out of the sea. A distinctive feature of the cape is the hoodoo stones that dot its surface. These shapes can be viewed at the Yeliu Geopark operated by the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration. A number of rock formations have been given imaginative names based on their shapes. The most well-known is the "The Queen's Head", an iconic image in Taiwan and an unofficial emblem for the town of Wanli. Other formations include "The Fairy Shoe", "The Bee Hive", "The Ginger Rocks" and "The Sea Candles."

On the eastern coast of Taiwan sits the beautiful city of Hualien. The
Spanish came here to mine for gold in the early 1600s, but it was not
until around 150 years later that the first permanent settlement began
in the rocky coastal terrain. Hualien is a small city that is mainly
known as being a starting point for anyone visiting Taroko National
Park. Inside the park lies Taroko Gorge,
a 19km-long canyon that twists and turns through jagged cliffs. Today,
Hualien has a listed population of just over 100,000 residents.
