Adirondacks of New York
The largest wilderness area remaining in the contiguous United States. A park of 24.000 km2, a patchwork of public and private lands harboring a diversity of wildlife, forests, streams, wetlends and mountains found nowhere else. The state-owned portion of 40% is protected by the "forever wild" provision of the state constitution.
