The Zoo-Botanic Foundation of Belo Horizonte (BH-FZB) is considered the
second largest public green area of the city. They are 144 hectares of
forest in the cerrado, in Pampulha. The FZB also houses the Zoo, the
Botanical Garden of Belo Horizonte and the Ecological Park of Pampulha.
The Foundation has over a thousand animals of 250 different species from
Asia, Africa and Europe. It is possible to see a butterfly, which shows
the life cycle of butterflies and a nursery with two thousand copies of
different colors. Since 2010 the garden also has an aquarium. At the
Botanical Garden, one learns about the rise of the Earth from the
plants. There are greenhouses with representations of the Atlantic
forest and savanna, and squares and gardens of medicinal and aromatic
plants, bromeliads and palm trees.
